Dearest Family,
I do not have very much time this week either, because something
happened with this computer and my letter to the president was erased
and i had to write it all over again. So i will try to say all i can
in the few minutes i have.
I LOVED ALL OF THE PICTURES THAT YOU SENT ME!!!. Ah. So awesome.
Really though. You are all so dang cool. And the halloween costumes
were incredible! Landon and maeg, sups presh. Westons constume was
incredible mom, good job. And the Wild Things were ADORABLE. Haha. Ah
Happy Halloween. I am excited to read your letters.
But i have a lot to tell you this week. One morning I was studying the
scritures and suddenly someone was hitting the window by my bed with a
hammer. Ha. Turns out they were just fixing it. The lady from whom we
rent the house just sent someone over. And it only cost like 10
dollars to fix.
Halloween was kind of a rough day for us. We only had 3 visits! Well,
in Jimenez. In the middle of the day, we had to go to Camargo, where I
worked with Elder Ellis´s companion, Elder Lopez. We had a little
sleepover in Camargo (talked about boys, painted nails, pillow fights,
reimbulsos, all the good stuff really), and then we left early in the
morning to head to Chihuahua. We were to have a
Multizone.....Capacitación (training?) can you say that in English).
Ok, well it was a conference. Training sounds weird in english. But
there were a little over 100 misionres there, and I saw my entire
generation! And elder Leon. It was so cool to be back with Elder
Hallsted, Elder Ellis, Elder Randall, and Elder Boudreaux. Haha. I
love those elders. ANyways, for three hours we were trained on what to
do for safety in this mission, and then the zone leaders taught us
stuff. And then we ate spaghetti and salad and pizza. mmmm. And then
we took a big group photo, which i will forward to you if i receive
it, and then President Angulo talked to us. HE IS SO POWERFUL. It is
kind of scary how powerful of a speaker he is. Like, almost shouting
at times. But so awesome. It really gave me the conviction to work
harder. I wish i had time to explain all that i learned. But it was an
enlightening conference. Took 8 hours....but was awesome. And at the
end, they gave everyone a new blanket, and they gave everyone there
ipods back, and all of their letters. But my zone leaders have mine,
so i should be getting all of that back today. I am excited to read my
dear elders and all.
Ok, now i want to tell you about the best part of the week. We have
this investigator named Alma. And she began to meet with the
missionaries the week I arrived. Anyways, she has received so many
incredible confirmations. She is the one who paid her tithing her
first week in church, and that week, a woman gave her 900 pesos that
she had owed her for THREE YEARS. She quit working on sundays so that
she could go to church, and although sundays were her main source of
income, she has seen no negative affects, and still has all the money
she needs. But she said to a member that she was still waiting for a
grander confirmation. So in all the time we have been teaching her,
she would never accept the baptismal invitation, or even pray.
Anyways, we were praying for her like crazy. And we had a visit with
her this week. We asked her if she had been rading the book of mormon.
She had. She read 2 Nephi 31 like we asked her. And she thought it was
just so beautiful. Then another day, she went to read the book of
mormon again, she started with a prayer. Then opened the book to a
page that caught her attention. Alma 32. She read it 5 times and cried
every time. IT was the answer she needed. She told us that she doesnt
need a grander confirmation or a perfect knowledge, because she has
the seed of faith, and it is growing. She has a testimony of the book
of mormon. She accepted a baptismal date for the 17th of November, and
she Prayed with us for the first time. The spirit was so powerful, i
was at a loss for words in that visit. Really though, I didn't talk
much. No one did. But it was the best visit we have had.
I am out of time. But i love you.
As you can see, i have my cd player back and everything (dont know
what happened to the pres). But i lookforwrd to reading oour letters.
}
Love,
Elder Hansen
