Finally Wet My Baptisimal Pants

November 19, 2012

Dear Family,

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM AND WESTON!! And Happy Thanksgiving. And let me know if i have a new niece this week. It is so crazy that Weston is turning 12. And i am so happy for him to receive the priesthood. Aw west, you are so awesome. And mom, i cant believe that you are turning 31. You are the best mom in the world. I was so blessed to be born into this family.

Mom, your hawaii trip with tess sounded awesome. It is a shame that weston wasnt able to go.

And Tess, that is sooo crazy that you enter the mtc in 2 weeks! Wow. you will love it so much. And your testimony will grow like crazy. The mission really is the best. Just love your companion. And love the people. Make it a personal rule to smile, all day, every day, even when it seems almost impossible. Pray constantly. You will be awesome. I love you.

In other news, yes I was able to perform my first baptism this week. It was so awesome. Got it right my first time, even though i was super nervous. We could figure out how to get the boiler working for the longest time, so the water was a little colder than she would have liked. But nontheless, when we asked her how she felt the next day, she couldnt describe the feeling, but said it was incredible. She will receive the gift of the holy ghost this next sunday. And we gave her a picture of the temple, so that she knows what the next goal is. She just thinks that the temple is so beautiful (THe picture was of the san diego temple, heh heh), and her daughter thinks it is a princess castle. That same day, we gave 3 priesthood blessings. We give a lot of those. There are a lot of health problems.

Oh, and this week, we have been on foot. We got a phone call early tuesday morning, and it is now a rule that we cant use the bikes. I dont know if something happened to another elder, or if it was revelation. It is pretty difficult becoming accustomed to walking everywhere. ANd it takes longer to get around. But it does have its advantages. For example, we can practice more spanish, and talk about how to improve our lessons, and follow the spirit easier on foot. I actually prefer walking. The work seems to move along the same, if not better.

I also got my first letters yesterday. I got 2 dearelders from zoe and erin, and 2 handwrittens from kelsey and kara. Super awesome. It was nice to get mail.

Yesterday, we had stake conference, so the entire branch met at the church at 8, and a charter bus took us to parral. So i got to see Elder Hallsted again. And President Angulo spoke! It was so cool. Haha. I wish you could hear him speak. He kind of just grills you. But in a way that makes you want to be better, and do better. He is kind of like a preacher. Almost shouting at points. SO AWESOME. ha. I love it. And he does it so naturally. Afterwards, president angulo gave elder ledezma and i new fuzzy blankets, and a heater, for winter. It is finally getting cold here. i actually had to put a sweater on the other day, it was like all the way down in the fiftys. Super brutal. But its funny, cause everyone else here has been wearing winter coats for the last 3 weeks, and i have been like "Its 68 degrees.".

Last monday, we had companion exchanges, and elder ellis came here to jimenez to be my companion. Unfortunately, he got sick on the bus, and was throwing up like crazy all night, so we couldt work. And it is funny, because today, I am the one who is sick and throwing up. But i think it is just a little 24 hour bug.

I love the work. The church is true. The scriptures rock. And I love you. (Possible the best poem i have ever written). I am practicing my creative abilities every day.

Sorry if this didn{t make any sense. I wrote kind of fast, because i want to get back to my house. Just remember that i love you all. And this thanksgiving, i am thankful for each and every one of you. THank you all for being so amazing.

Love,

Elder Romney Vaughn Hansen
