Hola! Como esta mi familia?
Ahhh! You are all the best. Thank you
for the birthday packages! :) I love you. Thanks to Your packages, my
companion and I are gorging ourselves. It's a fiesta. And we love it.
Thank you for the pictures as well! And thank you Aunt Annette for your
package! Ah, we are in heaven. So on Tuesday I was joking around with my companion that we
needed to go get my package slip from the district president because i
probably got one. But i really didn't. Then on wednesday I did the same
thing, and then again on thursday. Just every day. And he knew I wasn't
expecting one. Then thursday, My district president walks up, and the
ENTIRE district is with him, and they begrudgingly handed me THREE
package slips. Haha. They think i broke and MTC record. But it just goes
to show that I have amazing support and love coming from all of you.
Well i have a wicked lot to tell you about from this week. So Brie
was at the temple last friday, and that was just the coolest. It was
nice to see her. I was so excited to see here that i couldn't think of
the things that I wanted to say. So i probably was just awkward. But it
truly was a grand experience. She is the cutest. And then this sunday I
became the Zone leader. And that night was crazy. It has been a tough
week. One of our Elders in our zone found out on sunday that his sixteen
year old brother killed himself. And now his mom wants him to come
home. But he is still here. And he is so strong. I am amazed at how
strong he is. He is such a good example to me. I was in tears all day
and I just met the elder. But we have an excellent zone and they do a
great job being support. Especially Elder Ellis, because he went through
a similar experience with one of his best friends in middle school.
That next morning, we had a district leave. I will miss those elders.
Elder Todd Griffiths and Elder Daniel Rich were in that group of elders.
They were the last zone leaders and my roommates. I have grown to love
these elders so much, it is crazy that they are now in Mexico doing
work.
In other news, Elder Ellis is no longer my companion. An Elder in
our district received his visa for Peru, and he headed out on Tuesday to
go to the Peru MTC. So his companion, Elder Bennett, moved into our
room, and is now companions with Elder Ellis, while Elder Wesley Labar
and I are now companions. I guess the Lord wants me to learn more than
one lesson while I am here. And both of the companions that I have had
really do strengthen me so much and help me to improve.
In other, other, news. I have been sick all week as well. This is
the second time I have had a cold since i have been here. But my throat
hurts so bad I have to concentrate to swallow. It is just a pain, but it
isn't too bad. I got some great prescription cough syrup that is
keeping my coughing from keeping me awake. The doctor and I have grown
to be great friends. Between myself and the companions i have and have
had, we see eachother a lot. Haha. But it is just a cold bug that is
going around the MTC. EVERYONE is sick.
Other than that, the Church is true. The Spirit here really is so
great. If there was ever a time to see people improve themselves in
preparation for their missions and their lives, it would be now. I have
seen such great changes in the Elders in my district, and I love it. And
I have been changed myself. My testimony has been strengthened so much.
I love the Lord. I still cannot comprehend His atoning sacrifice. But i
am so grateful for it. I know that He lives. And that he loves us. And
we can all live as a family for eternity because of him. And for that, I
am forever indebted to him. Now i am just trying to show my
appreciation by working as hard as i can.
As zone leaders, we go around every night right before quiet time
and check up with every elder, see how they are doing, give them a hug.
And then we are in meetings all day sunday and then again on tuesday. It
really is a great opportunity to forget yourself and serve others.
----
Well i love you all. I miss you all. And i hope that everyone is
doing well. Keep up the good work. You really are all so amazing. I was
so blessed when i came to this earth. I couldn't have been place
anywhere better. I know that. k. Love you,
Love,
Elder Romney Vaughn Hansen
