How go things?
I actually hope that i can stay here in Juarez. I like it here. And it
is not as dangerous as you crazy people think. Plus, if i am here, then i
can send letters to you faster.
This week was
really. cool. Well, at first it was crap. Monday, after i wrote you, our
district played soccer. When the Elders from the Aztecas arrived, one
of them secretly motioned for me to follow him into the chapel. We went
inside, and he just began to cry. He has been having huge problems with
his companion, and he didnt know what to do. Poor Elder. This isnt the
first time he has had problems. His companion just acts rebelliously,
and in hatred towards the crying elder. I promised him i would help him.
So after playing sports for a few hours, and eating pizza, and lounging
in the sun, i interviewed every member of the entire district. Starting
with the ELders from Chapultepec 1, and i found out that they are also
having disputes, but they always resolve them and repent. Then i
interviewed the rebellious Elder from Aztecas...and it was the worst 10
minutes of my life. He came in the room OBVIOUSLY over excited, almost
yelling. I said "how are you?" "OH. REALLY REALLY GOOD." How is your
area. GREAT COULDNT BE BETTER. How is your companion, AWESOME, LOVE THAT
GUY, REALLY GREAT. Any problems? NO. NONE. You sure? SURE. WE ARE ALL
GOOD. Anything you want to share with me? NO, NOTHING. WHY?! And oh, my
heart was breaking. He knew i knew that they were having problems, and
that i have less time than him in the mision, and was just kind of
challening me. So i just talked with him about how i really am just here
to help them. And then i talked about what i wanted him, and the entire
district to study in the missionary handbook (about relationships with
companions) and in Preach My Gospel (about christlike attributes.)
Afterwards, i called the zone leaders. They didn't
know what to do either. They called President Angulo. He told them to go
interview the Elders from Aztecas. They went that night, and didnt
leave until 10:15, and said they found out more or less the problem, but
the elder was not willing to tell them exactly what happened. The next
day, President Angulo came and interviewed them. And the next day, the
rebellious elder had transfers to another zone, with his new companion,
Elder Zamudio...haha. Elder Zamudio is tremendo. But its all good. And
then the other elder has just thanked me so much for helping him. ha.
And now one of the zone leaders is in my district,
and serving in Chapultepec 1. Crazy things happening. We had 2
capacitaciones con Presidente Angulo this week. In the which, Elder
Pantoja and I put the goal to baptise AT LEAST 4 people in March. We
might baptise more, but we will not baptise less. And we are well on our
way, with 2 baptisms this week, with the woman, and the young girl in
these photos. It is Adelita and Angie. The woman i met on Christmas, who
signed up for AA. I dont know what, but i couldn't ever give up on her,
even though so many things told me i should. And here she is after
church, the sunday before her baptism. :) Pray for her, and that we can
have 2 baptisms this saturday.
Friday and saturday were crazy, we had 23 visits in
those 2 days, went to visit EVERYONE, and invited them to church. We had
12 people committed to come to church...but only 5 came. Its all good.
We are improving. And we will conquer March.
Mom, i still dont have that address. Sorry. And i
havent received your packages still. BUT, i did receive a lovely
DearElder package from Aunt Annette, which made me so very very happy!
:) And i also got a Christmas package from Dennis Smith. Give him my
utmost thanks. I will strive to write him a letter soon.
Send my love to the Rupert 5th ward. I think about
them and their examples often, and am so very grateful that they have
been a part of my life.
Send my love to all of my grandparents. I hope they are well.
I really do love you all. So very very much. I have
the best family and friends in the world, and have been so very very
blessed in my life.
Have an excellent week
ya'll. Share the gospel. Be a light. Work an aspect of the gospel into a
casual conversation with a non-member, or a less active: "How was your
weekend?" "Really good! A young man in our ward gave a talk about being
strong in adversity that really helped me with..." It's easy. Be full of
faith. And more than anything, begin to invite everyone, henceforth and
forever, to watch GENERAL CONFERENCE!!! woot woot. We will be getting
the 2 thousand flyers for each area soon, and we are preparing the
members, since last week, to begin inviting everyone.
Be excited. Be happy.
Love,
Elder Romney Hansen
