Dearest
Family,
Sorry, but
the letter will be short today. Because, i have Tranfers. Eh. So fast. I was
with this companion for two weeks. And, after like 3 months in this area. So
sad. I am leaving to another zone, where I will be in an area called Salvarcar.
I think it is in Juarez Este, where my companion will be Elder Lozano, and we
will be the zone leaders over there. Meanwhile, Elder Kaaihue will stay here in
Chapultepec 2 and Elder Monasterio will be returning to be his companion, and
they will be the zone leaders. I feel like it is our punishment for not meeting
our goal of Investigators in attendance at General Conference. :( But it
is all good because I learned some great things from Elder Kaaihue, and I hope
to learn great things from Elder Lozano.
In about an
hour, I will be getting on a bus for 5 hours to go back down to Chihuahua to
have the Leadership Meeting with President Angulo (I hear those meetings are
awesome, it is just like revelation flowing from everyone’s lips). That will be
fun. I will get to see some friends. I hope.
President
Angulo sent his daughter, Palmayra, into the mission field last week. That was
cool. She and I were good friends.
Meanwhile,
we did EVERYTHING we could this week to invite EVERYONE to general conference.
Pamphlets, members, contacting by the Spirit, visiting all of our former, and
current investigators, and more. We were expecting about 18 investigators to
attend at least one of the 5 sessions in total. We were pumped. The day came.
We had 1 investigator and 3 members in attendance for the Saturday Morning
session, then we had 1 investigator (the same) and 5 members for the second
session, and then zero investigators for Priesthood. Sunday morning: 1
investigator and 20 members. Sunday afternoon: 2 investigators and 15 members.
It has been a hard week. Because the 5 times that we had an investigator there,
consisted of the same two people. But that makes me happy.
This one
young guy that we found on Thursday, Adrian, came to three sessions!! :) He is
26, and has a bad leg, He can’t walk very well. But he rode his bike back and
forth to the church, like 4 miles each way, for three sessions!! So great. And
then Diana, a young 21-year-old woman that we have been teaching for a while,
came to two sessions on Sunday, and then in between sessions, we put a
baptismal date with her for the 20th of this month. And we (well Elder Kaaihue)
will be putting a baptismal date with Adrian on Tuesday at 5. I am excited. I
wish I could see these two progress.
And we will
be, more than anything, trying to get the members excited for a while.
Did someone
say GENERAL CONFERENCE??? Oh goodness if that wasn’t the best 10 hours of my
life. I took 23 notebook pages of notes. I don’t even know if they said
half of that stuff, but there it is. Ah, so powerful. We got to watch the
Priesthood Session in English with some other Elders, and that was even cooler.
How was I not appreciating the gold that is conference before the mission. It
is so treasurable. And mom, Jeffy (Elder Holland, first name basis),
always speaks like that. No surprise that it was awesome. I feel like the whole
conference was just something really special. Are conferences always like that?
Henry B. Eyering, Saturday morning right? Starting off with D&C 88:63, one
of my favorite scriptures of all time. Section 88 is full of great things. I
also liked his description of the difference between the cold dark night
outside, and the warmth and light inside the Church, for sacrament meeting in
the evenings. It was a tiny description and detail of his talk, but one that
has a ton of meaning. If only all of the less active members could realize that
in this cold and dark world in which we live, there is a place of warmth and
light, where we can be inspired, and feel the Love of our father, and our
fellow men. The church.
Well Now
that we have all been uplifted and edified, we can share it with someone else.
We want others to be uplifted and edified too right? Well, pray about it. This
week. Pray, Fast, Cry unto the the Father, like in Alma 34, or Enos, and the
Lord will put someone in your path, with whom you can share the Gospel. Todas
las cosas son posibles para los que creen. All things are possible, for those
who believe. All you have to do, is find them, invite them, and let the
missionaries step in and do their part, with you being the support.
Landon, your gospel sharing is making me so pumped. We need more members
like you in our area. If you weren’t so busy, and your life wasn’t so crazy,
you would make an excellent mission leader. :) Inspiring.
I hope I
can be like that after the mission, right now I say I will, but every
missionary says he will do this and that after the mission. I really intend to.
And I will try to.
Well, I'm
off to Chihuahua. Have an excellent week. You are all so pretty. And awesome.
And pretty awesome. Sed de buen animo.
Atentamente,
Elder
Hansen
