Dearest
everyone,
Funny
story, I totally forgot to tell you something. Don’t know how this slipped my
mind. Especially because mom asked if i got transferred. This last Monday,
Elder Hendrickson called me, and, what do you know, Transfers. I am now in a
small branch in an area called the Sierra, and I am acting as District Leader,
and Branch President of the Branch. It is so hard, we only have about 15 active
members, and my companion only has 2 months in the field. He really called me
to tell me that that is what I would be doing, but April Fools! ha. Made me so
mad. And mom, the answer is no. But my companion did have transfers. And
I am no longer training. He just went one area over, in Chapultepec 1, and I
Stayed here in Chapultepec 2 with Elder Peseta Mau'u Tele J. Kaaihue. He is
from....Utah. Haha. But is dad is Hawaiian. And everyone here battles to say
his name. Well mine too, but not so much. He has 9 months in the mission field,
and he was actually in the MTC with me for 3 weeks. Just one generation ahead.
But we are now the Zone Leaders for Juarez Sur, and have been acting as such
for a week now. Sorry that I forgot to tell you. Whoops.
Mom, you
were right, Semana Santa was a good time to spread the good news. Cristo ha
resucitado. We have been moving like crazy this week, but it also has happened
to be probably the hardest week of the mission. I have been so busy. Because I
have to direct the area, my companion doesn’t know anyone, and then I have to
direct the entire zone while I am at it. It is overwhelming. But we shared the
good message with plenty, and found some really cool people to teach. Sadly, being Easter, EVERYONE, had other
plans (going to the park, family coming, going to visit family, MASS), and we
had a solid 0 investigators in church. That hasn’t happened to us for a long
time. Good way to start off our Zone Leader Reign. ehhhh.
The coolest
family we have right now is actually a family of 9 that Elder Pantoja and I
found last week. But we went with them again this week, and found out some cool
stuff like: After 18 years living together, the parents finally got married 1
month ago; the day we found them was her Birthday, and our visit, and our
prayer, was "the best birthday gift she could have received,"; Her husband,
the day after we visited her, said "I want to go to church, we need to go
to a church, I don’t care which church, we just need to go to church.";
and She wants all of her kids to listen to us; And after we taught her how to
pray, she has been praying every day, and is so excited that she now knows how.
(Hopefully we see some good progress there). The experiences that I have
here make me so grateful for the life I have had. People here don’t even know
how to pray, how to talk to their Father, while I learned before I was like 5.
I will be eternally grateful for the life that you have given us Mom and Dad.
It has been a good one. Now we just have to share it with everyone else.
Mom, thank
you for your diligence in writing each week. Makes me so happy that I can hear from
my wonderful mother every Monday. Miss you.
And the
pascua was great, we got to focus totalmente on Christ. Which was cool. And
then later, some kids gifted some eggs to us, which were full of confetti. That
is what they do here, they cut the end of the egg off, dump out the egg, and
then fill the shell with confetti, and then glue that thin, colored paper that
you put in gift bags, to cover up the opening, and then they break them on each
others heads when they aren’t looking. haha. Awesome.
Well, I
love you all more than words.
Love,
Elder
Hansen
