Miracle week - Elder Hansen's February 11th letter

Dearest Family,

How are ya’ll? I sure do miss your faces. I am doing good. All is fine. This last week has been much better than the last week. All of the elders in the district are back to full capacity and working hard. And we have seen miracles here in Chapultepec 2.
Remember how I told you all that my favorite family, the Sanabria Family, told us that they aren't married? Well, I was devastated. They were my miracle family. But just to let you know. They do not let me down. On Monday, they told me that they finally have plans to get married, the 14th of February. Valentines day. It is free to get married that day. And it is perfect, because her baptism date is for the 16th. Well I was very content with that news.  But wait. That is not the miracle.

On Friday, I was on exchanges with one of the Zone leaders here in my area.  And we went to visit the Sanabria Family. Hermano Daniel Sanabria told me that he read The Family: a proclamation to the world, but still didn’t understand the law of chastity. So reviewed it.  And they both committed to obey it. So then I asked if they were still planning on getting married on the 14th so they could obey this commandment. And…smiling…they both put their hands above the table, and showed me their thumbs…still green from the fingerprint. They got married on Friday. HA. I FREAKED OUT. I actually started crying and laughing at the same time. Best night of my life.

Then, on Sunday, we were super bummed, because we only had 3 investigators in assistence. When he had committed 11 to attend. Crap right. The good part was the number of members in attendance. When I arrived in December the attendance was always between 75 and 90. Each week. In January, it was between 100 and 110 each week. Yesterday, there were 125 people in attendance. The lord is working miracles here.

Speaking of miracles, here's one more for ya. After church, we left to go eat. But some members stayed in the chapel for some meetings. Well, whilst there, a young woman entered the chapel, and asked “What do I need to do to be a member of this Church?” And NO ONE knew how to answer her! So they ran and got our Lider Misional, Mario. And he told her that she needs to be baptised. So she asked “What do I need to do to be baptised?” And he told her about these missionaries that teach people and help them to be baptised. He told her about a book, and gave her one. And she said that we can pass by every day after 5. He said, can you today (Sunday) at 6? She said yes.

So there I was eating my spice meat and beans, when I got a phone call. He asked what we were doing at 6, because he has a family, that already has books of mormon, and are going to be baptised. He sure knows how to make a missionary happy.  We went last night, it is a family of 5, 4 of which are of baptism age. All of them want to read the book of mormon, already committed to come to church, and to stop drinking coffee.

Well, that’s all folks. Love you all. Have a great week. And if someone walks into the church, and asks what they need to do to be members, please, help them. Remember that God is a God of miracles, and he is hastening his work. I am so lucky to be here at this time.

Love you all like crazy.

Love,

Elder Hansen

 I GOT PACKAGES! :)

Our Christmas dinner.

The children of President Angulo, Sister Angulo actually called me one night, just to chat. She asked me about dad. And then expressed a lot of gratitude to me, because i talked to her children at the Christmas party. I asked them all their names, got to know them a little, and was just being nice. But she told me that her children were very happy. Normally, the missionaries don't talk to them, because they are scared of President Angulo. Weirdos. It never hurts to be nice.

DId i already tell you that their daughter Palmyra is going to serve a mission in Arcadia, California in April. She is so excited. And she is also trying to snag a mini Preach My Gospel for me in spanish. I've got connections. :)
