Elder Hansen's February 4th letter ... with a boatload of pictures!

Dearest Family,

This week has been something difficult. But i am grateful. It gives me the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop Christlike Attributes. Included with my new routine of zero free time in the morning and night, one of the Elders of our district was sick this week…with the chicken pox. Haha. Poor guy, it was the worst case of chicken pox i have ever seen. And i had the opportunity to work in two areas this week. And the companion of the sick elder, is also new to his area. So neither of us knew the area. We followed the spirit a lot. Which actually worked. But our key indicators suffered big time this week. We only had 1 family in attendance this week, in the entire district. It was our miracle family that we found on a Saturday, that attended on Sunday, and has the daughter in a wheelchair. I don't remember what she has. But She came to church again. Even though, this week, i found out that it isn't the perfect miracle….seeing that they, aren't, married. L NOOOOOOO. Always such a problem here. On the bright side, we helped them make tamales, and they are saving some of them for us tonight. Woohoo.

Our three families that have baptismal dates all have problems with the Word of Wisdom, and the Law of Chastity. It is rough.

No baptisms this week. But soon.

This week, we were really desperate to find some new investigators…so i read the ENTIRE area book, through lists of former investigators and contacts from the last 5 years. At the end, i was surprised that i had only pulled out 3 of them. Well we went to visit one of those three on Saturday, and we found that the man has a family… of 30 + people! Haha. But we only taught 3 of them. I really want to return to teach the whole family. It is a family of 4 generations living together. I asked them for references, and asked if they were the biggest family on the block. Turns out. NO! J Their neighbors in front of them, are also, one of the wonders of the missionary world. I still dont know of any of these people will progress. But it is always fun to say that i found a family of 30. J

We had a real P-day today. We woke up at 6, at 7:30, we were in Pradera Dorada, one of the stake centers. Where we ate breakfast, were trained by President Angulo (gave me the boost i needed), and then played basketball, frisbee, soccer, and foursquare. J With like 60 missionaries. Best p-day ever.

Well famdamily, i sure do love you. I hope you all have a great week.

Love,

Elder Hansen

These photos are from when we had that great snowstorm of January 2013, we drew in the snow on the neighbors car, and were happy outside of our house.

And these photos of me, are of my exercise..... ahem. Haha. okay, it is me resting in between pushups. I really do exercise. Put the neighbors puppy runs inside every morning when we grab firewood. And then he sits on my bum while i do pushups. And...since it has been cold...he has taken to sleeping in my bed with me. Heh heh. Its like having a teddy bear that licks your face. He has been our (neigbors) pet since Christmas. It has been a blast to raise their dog, and house train him. I feel bad every time i have to punish him for doing number 1 in the kitchen.

My District, when Elder Monasterio was still district leader. It is super different now. And there are now 2 other gringos in the zone. One is in my district, and the other is our new zone leader.

Just some cool photos of one of the colonies in my area. Mexico is pretty cool.

I got a package from Sister Fife from our ward. SHe and the activity day girls sent me a Christmas activity. And it was the funnest moment of my nightlife, to be opening those presentes and reading the corresponding scriptures. Tell them i love them, and thank you.

My zone had a party in December. We ate popcorn and watched a movie.

Elder Monasterio celebrated his 1 year mark in the mission. So he burned his shirt. I still haven't burned my tie ... but I will soon.
