Baptismal Bells and snow!

Dearest Family,

HAPPY NEW YEAR. I cannot believe that it is already 2013. This last P-day, we got a real p-day again. The entire zone came over to our house (our house is the only house with a sofa and two lazy boys), and we watched a movie about these two missionaries, i dont remember what it was called, but it was super funny. We kicked back and ate popcorn with salsa and chips. So grand.

On new years day, I ate Menudo for the first time! ha. It was wild. You just swallow...more than chew.  And then on thursday, the 3rd, Elder Monasterio went outside in the morning to get firewood, and he ran back inside excited because it was SNOWING. haha. It is the first time he has ever seen the snow. That morning we also had a zone meeting to practice how our planamiento, and i was with 10 mexicans/guatemalans who have never seen the snow in their life. They were thrilled. Snow ball fights, snow angels, the works. :) It kept snowing until midday on friday. We got a solid 3 inches, which quickly melted, and then it snowed another 3 inches, which has stayed in shady place. It is just super muddy everywhere else.

And most importantly, on friday we were in the chapel for forever for BAPTISMAL INTERVIEWS!! ahhh. haha. The Rubio Rivera family was ready for the interviews. I think i explained a little bit about them in my last letter. If not, comment, and i will explain. But Alma, and her daughters Jaymie and Evelyn passed their baptismal interviews. :)
The next morning, we went to visit them, to see how they felt. Alma told us all about how after the interviews, they went back to their house, and they all felt super calm. Really good. And then everything just went crazy, her oldest daughter of 19 years of age, also named Alma, got into a fist fight with some of their cousins. Alma (mother) got super angry, and was going to go help, but her husband did not let her leave the house. And thank goodness, because she would be in jail with them if she had.
Goes to show, that Satan will do whatever he can to impede the people from being baptized. But, luckily, nothing happened, and at 5 p.m. i was privileged to baptise Evelyn (age 8), and Jaymie (age 10). Elder Monasterio baptized Alma. The service was beautiful. And then their family, and us, the missionaries, sang A Childs Prayer. Sisters were crying, it was great. And her oldest daughter, who is not a member, felt wonderful. We are going to teach her now. The next day they were confirmed. I love this little family. Evelyn is like my little sister. They are all so cute.

Oh yeah, and while i was waiting for the people to arrive for the baptism, a missionary farewell was going on in the chapel. I was just in the foyer, and suddenly the doors to the chapel burst open and two guys carrying another guys ran out and dropped him onto the ground. The man they were carrying has Epilepsy, and was having the most violent seizure i have ever seen. The second he hit the ground, i ran over, and with another man, held his head from pounding into the ground. I was amazed how difficult it was. And the saddest part is that he was coherent. We made eye contact at one point, and his eyes looked scared. And the sounds were horrible. I almost cried. I was there with his head in my hands, and i was just praying like crazy, and his seizure ended soon enough.  But, that was scary.

I didn't get to stay up for new years. Haha. None of that in this mission. We are looking for new investigators, cause we have zero baptismal dates right now, and we want at least 2 more baptisms this month. But we are working to put dates with about 5 families.

K. This email is short, so i can send pictures. Love you all like crazy. have an excellent new week. Be awesome.

Love,

Elder Hansen
